Why the clinic costs $4,000

How A $99 Problem Became A $4,000 Ordeal.

Hearing loss doesn't arrive. It creeps. The TV goes up a notch, then another. You start picking the seat with your back to the wall. You nod along at dinner and hope you guessed right. And every "what?" costs a little more than the last one.

An older woman leaning in to follow a conversation with friends at a restaurant.

Why? Because the hearing-aid industry built a business on making it hard.

Hearing test, fitting, follow-up, adjustment, another follow-up: four to six visits and an average of about $4,700 a pair before insurance.* The devices inside cost a fraction of that. The rest is the building, the appointments and the markup.

So most people who need help never get it. Not because it doesn't exist. Because the clinic route costs too much and takes too long.

An older couple reviewing a calendar and appointment card in a clinic waiting area.

At Oricle, we believe hearing better shouldn't take a clinic, months of appointments or $4,000.

In 2022 the FDA created an over-the-counter category for hearing aids for mild to moderate hearing loss. Oricle is FDA-registered in that category, sold direct, and ships from our U.S. warehouse. Same job as the clinic aid. None of the overhead.

*Savings compare Oricle’s price to the typical private-clinic cost of a professionally fitted prescription pair — industry surveys in late 2025 put that average near $4,700 without insurance, with premium care packages reaching $6,500 or more. Your cost varies by provider, technology level, and coverage.

Meet Oricle

The Hearing Aid That Doesn't Just Improve Your Hearing. It Revolutionizes It.

Two aids the size of a fingertip. A charging case that fits in a pocket. Inside each aid, a sound chip that lifts voices and tames the room, so conversation comes forward and the clatter falls back.

The Pro adds a digital chip that processes speech and background noise independently, then recombines them for crystal-clear sound, with feedback cancellation so it never whistles.

In short: double the power, double the clarity, in a design so small nobody will know you're wearing it.

Oricle Pro aids with clear silicone tips and their oval charging case, with subtle blue sound-wave graphics.

Our belief

Hearing Your Family Is A Vital Part Of Staying Close To Them.

But let's be honest: hearing aids have a reputation. Bulky. Beige. Whistling. $4,000.

We got rid of all that.

Oricle sits inside your ear, not behind it. It charges overnight in its case, like a phone. There's no app, no pairing and no appointment: the controls are on the aid. Put them in with your morning coffee and forget about them.

A customer holding the Oricle box and giving a thumbs up

“I Can Finally Hear Everything!”

“I've struggled with hearing loss for years, but Oricle has changed everything. For the first time in ages, I can hear clearly again—whether it's my grandchildren laughing or a quiet conversation with my husband. The clarity is amazing, and I no longer have to ask people to repeat themselves. Oricle has truly given me back the joy of hearing!”

Set your expectations

What Should I Expect In The First 30 Days?

Your ears work on day one. Your brain takes a couple of weeks to catch up. Here's what new wearers commonly report, and what to notice.

  1. Day 1

    Voices come forward.

Put them in, set the volume where speech is comfortable, and leave it. You’ll notice sounds you forgot existed: the fridge, your own footsteps, the turn signal. That’s normal. It’s your brain hearing what it had stopped bothering with.

What to notice: Whether the TV is lower tonight than last night.
Hands holding an open Oricle 2.0 case with the blue and red aids seated inside.
    Charged, inserted, hearing.
  2. Day 3

    The new sounds settle.

The clatter that seemed loud on day one is already fading into the background. Wear them most of the day, not just at dinner. Hearing is a skill your brain re-learns by practising.

What to notice: How often you said “what?” at dinner.
  3. Week 1

    Conversation stops being work.

One-on-one talks feel easy and the phone is clearer. You’ve stopped thinking about the aids by mid-morning.

What to notice: Whether you reached for the remote at all.
  4. Week 2

    Rooms get easier.

Restaurants and groups are the hardest test for any hearing aid. This is where the Pro’s noise reduction earns its $50: voices across the table come forward and the room falls back.

What to notice: Which seat you picked, and whether you picked it for your ears.
  5. Day 30

    The decision.

A month of dinners, calls and TV at a normal volume. If they’re not for you, send them back for a refund. Most people decide to keep them well before this.

What to notice: What your family has stopped saying.
An older woman enjoying a conversation at a cafe while wearing a discreet hearing aid.
    The hardest room, handled.

The most common mistake is judging them at hour one, while your brain is still turning the fridge back down. Give it a week.

What new wearers commonly report; individual experience varies. Oricle is an FDA-registered over-the-counter hearing aid for adults 18+ with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. Severe or profound hearing loss needs a prescription device.

Clinician review
“One of my biggest concerns as an audiologist is the isolation that can come with hearing loss. When people can no longer hear and participate in conversations, they may begin to withdraw from social situations. Over time, that can affect more than hearing, it may also contribute to concerns like depression and cognitive decline. Oricle offers a simple solution. Customers report that it's easy to use, sounds great, and makes them feel more included in conversations.”

What most people try first:

Illustrative still life of an older amplifier, button-cell batteries and a clearly labeled example estimate.
  • Turning the TV up
  • Asking people to repeat themselves
  • A $30 drugstore amplifier
  • A cheap knock-off that whistled
  • A $4,000 clinic quote
  • Waiting another year

Some of those help, sort of. None of them is a hearing aid you can wear tonight.

What people actually want is better hearing without:

  • four to six appointments
  • a $4,000 bill
  • something everyone can see
  • a phone app to fight with

Here's why an audiologist is comfortable recommending a $99 hearing aid

  • FDA-registered over-the-counter hearing aid
  • Made for perceived mild to moderate hearing loss
  • Rechargeable, nothing to replace
  • No app; the controls are on the aid

Here's the problem…

The clinic route averages about $4,700 a pair after four to six visits.* The aids aren't what costs $4,700. The building is.

Illustrative older adult thoughtfully reviewing an example estimate at home.

That's why Oricle was made. We skipped the clinic overhead, not the clinical standard.

One small aid in each ear that gives you back the conversations you've been missing.

  • I bought these for my husband. His $5000 hearing aids stopped working. We didn’t have an extra $5000 laying around to buy a new pair, but we could very much afford the cost of the Oricles, especially that they could be returned if we didn’t like them. Well, my husband loves them! Best $100 I ever spent.

  • Oricle Pro hearing aids are easy to use. Now I don't have to put the TV way up high to hear it. So far, I am very pleased with these hearing aids.

  • It works perfect for me. No static, no whistling sound. I’m able to enjoy being a part of the conversation without missing out on some of the words and making a comment on something totally different than what what they were talking about lol. I like these the best so far.

  • I love my Oricle 2.0 hearing aids! When I ordered my second pair recently, there was a problem with the left hearing aid. I called customer service, spoke with a hearing expert, and Oricle sent me a replacement pair immediately. For people like me, with mild to moderate hearing loss, these hearing aids are comfortable and highly effective. I can hear people more clearly, and fully participate in life again!

  • Love them, taking time to get used to them but they are very comfortable also! A friend bought a pair after I told him about these and he has regular hearing aids also.

The Questions People Actually Ask

Will Oricle work for my hearing loss?

Oricle is made for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss: the TV louder than others want, missing words in groups, asking people to repeat themselves. Severe or profound loss, sudden loss, or loss in one ear only needs a doctor first.

2.0 or Pro, which should I get?

If it's mostly TV, the phone and one-on-one: the 2.0. If restaurants, family tables and busy rooms are where you struggle: the Pro. Its digital chip filters background noise and cancels feedback, so it never whistles. Most people choose the Pro, and this week it costs what the 2.0 normally does.

Will people see it?

Oricle sits inside your ear, not behind it. Only the small faceplate shows, and most people never notice it.

Will it whistle?

The Pro has feedback cancellation built in. The 2.0 can whistle if an ear tip doesn't seal; pick the tip that fits snugly without pressure. Six sizes are in the box.

Do I need a smartphone or an app?

No. Every control is on the aid. Nothing to pair, nothing to download.

How long does the battery last?

The Pro runs about 16 hours per charge, the 2.0 about 14. Both charge overnight in the case. There are no batteries to buy.

I wear glasses. Will it fit?

Yes. Because Oricle sits in the ear, nothing competes with the arm of your glasses.

Is Oricle FDA-registered?

Yes. Oricle 2.0 and Oricle Pro are FDA-registered over-the-counter hearing aids for adults 18+ with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss.

What if I don't like them?

You have 30 days to decide. Wear them at home, and if they're not for you, send them back for a refund.

How fast does it ship?

Orders placed before 3:00 PM Pacific on a business day ship the same day from our U.S. warehouse, tracked, and most arrive in 3–6 business days.

Can I pay with my HSA or FSA card?

Yes. Hearing aids are HSA / FSA eligible.

Who do I call with questions?

support@oriclehearing.com, 7 days a week, 5 AM–6 PM Pacific. Free lifetime support comes with every pair.
